1 week later. Progress so far...
It's been almost a week since the submission and, even if I haven't had a lot of time to implement some bigger changes I've kept myself busy doing groundwork and thinking my next steps.
One of my biggest regrets from the compo deadline was that I didn't have time to create music, so it's been one of my main priorities these days: I grabbed my flashy new Midi keyboard, launched Famitracker and started putting notes. I'm not a composer and it clearly needs more work, but at least now I do have a playable version with music (sounds will follow round soon, hopefully).
Besides it, the post-compo version fixes some bugs, a couple of them relatively severe, and other annoyances. At the end of this post you can see the list of downloadable COMPO and POST-COMPO versions as attachments.
If you'd rather play the post-compo version in your browser instead, you can try it @ my alt. projects page for now. Once the rating period for Ludum Dare is over I'll switch the compo version with the post-compo, so Itch will host the most final version in the end.
I wrote the postmortem, where I mostly ramble about stuff. It is a bit long and I'd rather not copy-paste it here, so instead I'll just post the link. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/overburnt/overburnt-postmortem
Last but not least, I've compiled a (huge) tasklist of tasks to improve the game. The core areas would be:
- Player experience improvements, especially aimed at newcomers and Android users.
- Fleshing out the fatigue mechanic.
- More content (obviously): Levels, new crafts, etc.
- Adding in-between level progression, a bit of narrative design and closing the loop in a satisfying way.
- Audiovisual polish.
- Extra stuff.
